U.G.C. SPONSORED NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBALISATION OF TEACHER EDUCATION

Shri K.C. Modi, Vice-President of Shri Mahesh Shikshan Sansthan, Jodhpur addressing the Inaugural Function of the National Conference

Every individual is different from the other. Like individual differences among human beings, every Nation differs from the other Nation in various aspects e.g. Educational Status, Financial System, Political System, Social System, etc. The growth and development of any nation is influenced by its historical, racial, religious, geographical, economical, political, and various other factors. It should be taken into cognizance that the national character of a given group is not determined by only one factor. Combination of several factors plays their role. Some factors are dominant in one case, and some other factors may play dominant role in the other situations.

The progress of any country depends to a large extent on the combination of several factors which include quality and the number of trained manpower available in different areas i.e. health, communication, science and technology, defense, education, etc.

Keeping in mind the importance of mutual co-operation, competition, understanding, partnership among various countries specifically in the field of teacher education, a 2-day National Conference sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on “Globalization of Teacher Education” was organized from 16 December 2011 to 17 December 2011 for which about 445 Papers were received, and the participants attended the same from not only Rajasthan but also from 5-6 other States.

A pre-conference publication consisting of the Papers was released during the inaugural ceremony of the Conference.

GLOBALISATION AND EDUCATION SYSTEM-CHANGE AND CHALLENGES

Globalisation has brought about some overall improvements in human development. Though the development has been taking place in the history of mankind since the time we human beings learned cooperation, transmission of knowledge to the succeeding generations, and making of culture. Globalization as a complex and multi-faceted phenomena has left an indelible impact on all spheres and levels of life resulting in growing interdependence of the people across the globe. The need therefore is to transform societies into global centers of knowledge thereby characterising knowledge as the most important tool in the hands of people to form the basis of their collective growth and development and to deal with challenges this has generated.

The Education system of any country is not a static entity but the dynamic one. Whatever happens around us affects the Education. When the entire world has now been squeezed to a Global Village it becomes of paramount interest an issue to see as to how the Education system is being affected by the event known as Globalization. With this endeavour a National Conference is being organized by this College which is sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) “Globalization and Education System:Change and Challenges” was organized from 16 March 2012 to 17 March 2012 for which about 60 Papers were received, and the participants attended the same from not only Rajasthan but also from 4-5 other States..
